PHP Developer

PHP Developer – Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Salary to 45k plus excellent benefits
This forward-thinking web development company based in Doncaster, looking for an experienced PHP Developer to join their development team. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about building business systems and websites that deliver real results for clients.
The Web Developer will bring at least 5 years’ experience in PHP development, thrive on solving technical challenges, and enjoy mentoring others. As a PHP Developer you will play a key role in shaping projects, supporting a junior developer, and driving technical excellence across our portfolio.
 
Core skills & experience

  • Strong PHP, MySQL & Symfony expertise (comfortable coding without heavy reliance on frameworks)
  • Experience leading/mentoring junior developers
  • Solid testing practices & sharp attention to detail
  • Payment processor setup & 3rd-party integrations (Stripe, PayPal, Sage, WorldPay, custom solutions)
  • Proficient with Git, hosting (cPanel/Plesk), servers (VPS/Dedicated), domains & DNS management
  • Awareness of SEO, semantic HTML & Google best practices
  • Experience with analytics tools (Google Analytics, Tag Manager – events & conversions)
Desirable
  • Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical clients
Key responsibilities
  • Maintain & enhance client websites
  • Plan and scope new projects with the Creative Director
  • Test thoroughly before deployment
  • Keep up with new tech, tools & industry trends
  • Embrace new approaches with an open mindset
